Helen Adams Keller, born June 27, 1880 was an American author, disability rights advocate, political activist and lecturer. Born in West Tuscumbia, Alabama. She advocated for the blind and women. While in college she wrote her most notable work Story of My Life. An autobiography detailing her life as a blind woman as well as her relationship with her best friend Anne Sullivan. She died peacefully in her sleep on June 1, 1968.
